Sprouting 101

Every great business starts with a plan, not unlike online marketing. First and foremost we want to understand who you are and what you aim to do. After we get some info on that, we can then determine what method of attack to take.

Our goal here at Sprout Marketing is to take you on where you currently are, and slowly (or quickly) Sprout you up as we earn your trust and show you what we do.

The Website

The first and most important step to creating a successful online campaign is making sure you have a website that clearly expresses your business. Whether you are designing, treating, selling, servicing, etc… People need to understand what it is you do and who you are.

We will design a state of the art CUSTOM website for you that will embody anything and everything that makes you…you. Due to the fact that we obsess day and night about staying up to date with information, you may experience extreme satisfaction.

Not only are our websites beautifully designed for large desktop computers, but they are also fully mobile responsive for any device people may try to find you on. Yes that includes smartphones, tablets, grandma’s old kindle and more.

Search Engine Optimization, or SEO for short, is the process of making your website more accessible and recognizable for search engines like Google, Yahoo, Bing, etc… to understand. Once they understand your site, they can then connect you with the people searching for the info you have.

Back in the day the main key to SEO was merely having the keyword being searched as many times as you could on your website, and you would rank the highest. Because search engines realized this wasn’t the best method to ensure customer satisfaction or convenience, they took to perfecting their algorithms over time.

Because these search engines are in the business of customer satisfaction, not unlike yourselves, they want to make sure the websites that they show off on the first page, and ultimately the first couple spots, will help satisfy the person who was doing the search.

People go online for a number of reasons, most of them being to learn, compare, interact, ask, find, experience, etc… but most of all convenience. We will help make your website the most immersive and convenient for the user, while taking into account search engine standards.

Custom Content

Today, there is no single thing you can do to ensure you are number one on a search engine results page (SERP) forever, so SEO is an active approach to maintaining activity and standards that search engines like.

Search engines love to see new content added to the site, and added often. Custom content can mean educational articles you’ve written, a blog, client success stories, almost anything. Depending on the level of competition in your area and for your industry, this may mean 1 page a month, or 1 page a day. We will help assess this for you.

Custom content not only tells search engines to scan and index your page, but also helps the user see you as an authority on the subject instead of leaving your page to find the information they were looking for. This could result in misinformation from a random website, or finding your competitor and choosing them.

We will create content for YOU on the subjects you WANT, then go behind the scenes to make them SEO friendly to increase their effectiveness. Having pages like this will also help increase the amount of time people spend on your site, as they are reading the information you have provided.

Search engines love to see people spending a lot of time on your website, fast load times, lots of clicks, backlinks, and much more. They take into account hundreds of different factors when deciding who should appear first, and make huge changes to which factors are more important each year. We have the inside scoop and learn about these things first!

Backlinks have become a vital part of SEO for a good reason. A backlink, or referral link, is when your web address is displayed on another website. Think of this as a word of mouth referral, but between websites. The more websites there are that are talking about you, the better.

The quality and popularity of the website that is talking about you is very important as well. Like if that popular girl Rachel from high school said your parties were the best, everyone would want to go a little more than if Gary, the creepy new guy said it. So we will work to get you the highest quality backlinks available in your industry and location. One of the easiest backlinks to create is with Facebook or other social media pages.

Social Media

Social media has become an integral part of society whether you like it or not, and search engines happen to love it. So we encourage using this to your advantage because of the large amounts of activity you can garner. While the best way to manage a social media campaign is from within your business, we understand that this is not always an option for reasons of both time and expertise.

Our social media experts have studied the In’s and Out’s of what people like to see and when they like to see it to help cut down on those costs. Depending on how indepth you want your social media campaign to be, we can help by building your pages, designing them to create a coherent brand, and managing them.

Social media is like word of mouth but on steroids! Anytime someone says something good about your product or tags a friend on one of your posts, not only does that person’s friend see it, all that their friend’s friends get a chance to see it.

The average person has about 150 friends on their profile, so if you only get 10 likes on a post, up to 1,500 people have the chance to be exposed to your brand. Coupling this with masterfully crafted posts, and diligently selected posting times, we can maximize your exposure.

The best part is that on these pages, people can read all the great things that have been said about you, instead of that word of mouth referral going in one ear and out the other. Social proof like this can help build trust with a potential client, giving them the impetus to choose you over the other guy, before they have even decided to call.

Online reviews have quickly become a very large part of marketing online. When people read all the great things you have on your website, they take it with a grain of salt. But when they read it on a 3rd party website like Facebook, Google or Yelp, they are more trusting because you didn’t put it there.

Great online reviews help build trust with people in the same way word of mouth referrals do. When someone gets a first hand recommendation from a friend, they trust the business more often than if they don’t get any recommendation. Nowadays people will take that recommendation right to the internet just to make sure what they are getting into. So if they see even more great recommendations from other people, online reviews, they are convinced.

Taking it a step further, when people get that recommendation then go online and see bad reviews, they may be convinced you’re not the right choice.

Getting a bad online review isn’t the end of the world, but it certainly doesn’t help. A great mentor once told me, “The solution to pollution, is dilution.” Flooding that bad review with a bunch of good reviews is always the best option.

We will help get you a great online reputation to match the one you have offline.

Search Engine Marketing, or SEM for short, is the process of making your website more visible on search engines by the use of paid advertising. You may have done a Google search before and noticed how the top couple of websites have a little green box next to them for instance. That is an example of a Google Ad. SEM can range anywhere from Pay Per Click (PPC) ads like this, to retargeting technology. This methodology means very fast but more expensive.

SEM methods can be very effective due to the fact that you only pay for what you use (Adspend Budget), and can set how much you use and when you use it (Ad Limits). In other words, if you don’t use it you don’t lose it.

You can expect much faster results from the use of techniques like PPC Adwords, but you must pay for each time your ad gets clicked. By researching the topics you want to be found for, the time of day those topics get the most traffic, and how much each new client is worth to you, the sky’s the limit with PPC as long as you continue running the ads.

Once you end your ad campaign, you will lose that top spot, so this tactic is best used in conjunction with an advanced SEO campaign. SEM can give you the quick results and high ceiling you need, while we build up the floor with SEO over time.
